Alberobello is the “Capital of trulli”. It stands on two hills: on the eastern one there’s the modern part of the town while the other hill is divided into two parts (Monti and Aia Piccola) and it’s here that you can find the historic centre with its original trulli, ancient houses with white walls and grey stones cone-shaped domes as roofs, included in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The countryside surrounding Alberobello is covered with almond and olive trees that grow on a karstic soil and it’s from the calcareous rocks that the farmers got the material to build up this curious and unique houses. Here you can enjoy a fresh air, a colourfully peasant landscape and the savours of typical dishes. Thanks to its unique features, Alberobello is often a filmset.
