Storia comune di Rodi Garganico provincia di Foggia
Probably Rodi Garganico was founded by Rodii argivi, a Greek people, or maybe it was built up after the destruction of a little village, Uria. It was part of the Roman Empire, but it was destroyed and invaded by Goths and Saracens. It was allied with Frederick II and sacked by Venetians. It was then a fief of Aragoneses until the 19th century.

Rodi Garganico rises on a sheer promontory overlooking the Adriatic sea. The town is part of the Gargano National Park thus is surrounded by woods, olive groves and citrus orchard. The medieval historic centre is a maze of typical alleyways and pastel-coloured houses with wrought iron balconies which view is often the sea. The sea it’s just what makes this ancient fishing village one of the best destinations in Apulia. Clear sea, golden beaches and little bays allowed Rodi to win the FEE Blue Flag; the modern accommodations will welcome you in this lovely town as the new port for example, built up following bio-architecture standards. The Madonna della Libera Sanctuary too, few km away from the town, should not be missed.
