Storia comune di Monteroni Di Lecce provincia di Lecce
The place name comes from “mons” (hill) and “tyronum” (recruits) because in Roman age there was a training camp for soldiers. With Normans the town was part of Lecce county and later started the period of feudalism with some families until the end of feudalism and the unification of Italy. Nowadays Monteroni is a suitable town for university students.
